Before first use, your healthcare provider should show you how to inject it. Always read the full "Instructions for Use" leaflet provided with your medicine.
1. Prepare: check your pen contains your prescribed dose and the solution is clear and colourless. Always use a new needle for each injection.
2. Choose your injection site: front of your upper legs, your stomach, or your upper arms.
3. Rotate your site: you may inject in the same body area each week, but not the exact same spot.
4. Inject: follow the leaflet to set your dose; press and hold the dose button until the counter shows 0, then slowly count to 6 before removing the needle.
5. Dispose: unscrew the needle immediately after injection and dispose of it safely. Never store your pen with a needle attached.
Important Note: Every time you inject, select a new location that is at least a finger's width apart from the previous site. Rotating your injection sites is crucial for preventing the development of persistent, hard lumps (fatty nodules), which can form and reduce how well your medication works.
Wegovy Side Effects
Like all medicines, Wegovy can cause side effects, although not everybody will experience them. It's important to be aware of what to look for.
Common (may affect more than 1 in 10): headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain, feeling weak or tired. These usually pass over time as your body adjusts.
Signs of acute pancreatitis (severe, long-lasting stomach pain that may move to the back)
Severe allergic reactions (breathing problems, swelling of face/throat, wheezing, fast heartbeat)
Bowel obstruction (severe constipation with stomach ache, bloating, vomiting)
